There are so many different blocks in Minecraft! Some of them are useful, some of them are nice to see in buildings. Chiseled Stone Bricks are a bit of both: they are one of the decorative blocks that you can obtain with a Stonecutter but they are also a crafting ingredient in the Compass recipe.
To make Chiseled Stone Bricks you need to put 4 Stone blocks in a Crafting Table. You will get 4 Stone Bricks that you need to put in the Crafting Table to get Stone Slabs. Then put 2 Stone Slabs in the Crafting Table and you will get Chiseled Stone Bricks. Or you can use a Stoncutter.

Required materials
To make Chiseled Stone Bricks you will need to have Stone. From each Stone block you can get a Chiseled Stone Brick, but keep in mind that if you want to make them with a Crafting Table you will need at least 4 Stone blocks.
You can get Stone blocks in 2 ways:
- you can mine Stone using a Silk Touch enchanted Pickaxe
- you can smelt Cobblestone blocks in the Furnace
How to make Chiseled Stone Bricks with the Crafting Table
First, put 4 Stone blocks in the Crafting Table to get 4 Stone Bricks.
Then, put 3 Stone Bricks in the Crafting Table to get 6 Stone Brick Slabs.
Then put 2 of them in the Crafting Table to obtain a Chiseled Stone Brick.
As you probably noticed, you will end up with some unused materials (some Stone Bricks and some Slabs). If you want to make Chiseled Stone Bricks without wasting any Stone block, you will need to use at least 12 of them.

How to craft a Stonecutter
To craft a Stonecutter you need 3 Stone blocks and 1 Iron Ingot. You need to put them together in the Crafting Table:
To use a Stonecutter you simply need to right-click on it.
Then you just need to put Stone blocks in the Stonecutter and select the Chiseled Stone Brick option.
Other Chiseled blocks
Stone Brick is not the only building material that has its chiseled version. You can also turn the following blocks into their chiseled versions:
- Deepslate
- Infested Stone Bricks
- Nether Bricks
- Polished Blackstone

- Red Sandstone
- Sandstone
To obtain their chiseled version you just need to follow the same process, using these blocks instead of Stone Bricks.
How to get Chiseled Stone Bricks – commands
To use commands you will need to have cheats allowed in your Minecraft world. If cheats are not allowed in your world, there is a workaround. You can check here how to still use cheats in that Minecraft world.
To get a Chiseled Stone Brick this way, you need to open the commands and type:
/give @p chiseled_stone_bricks 1
If you want more than 1 Chiseled Stone Brick, you can change the “1” in the commands with the desired amount.
Conclusions
The quickest way to make a large amount of Chiseled Stone Bricks is to use a Stonecutter. Otherwise you can also use the Crafting Table if you just need a couple of blocks, but you will need to go through a couple of additional steps.
